Western Massachusetts is a great year-round destination for
travelers and a special place to call home for local residents. Fantastic food
and drink establishments can be found in every town. Here is a sampling of some
of the best Berkshire bars.
Moe's Tavern
This Lee, Massachusetts location boasts an incredibly large selection of craft beers and whiskeys. Be sure not to fall in love with a favorite because Moe's selections are constantly being updated, and there is no guarantee that any particular one will be available on a return visit. Beers are available on tap, in bottles or in cans. The decor is hard core tavern. Live music is available on the weekends. Patrons should also visit the tavern's sister store, Trader Moe's, and take home some of the fabulous craft beers.
Fitzwilly's
Northampton, Massachusetts is home to Fitzwilly's Restaurant and Bar, a Trip Advisor's Certificate of Excellence winner in 2015. With its warm atmosphere, this family-owned bar makes all patrons feel like old friends. Located in a historic downtown building, the bar's exposed brick walls and archways add to the tavern feel. Offering the best in pub style meals, an assortment of local craft beers and a great liquor selection, Fitzwilly's has earned its place on the list.
The Heritage Tavern
Conveniently located near the Tanglewood Music Center in Lenox Massachusetts, the Old Heritage Tavern is a great place to enjoy a drink and some terrific food before or after a show. Domestic and imported beers are available, as are microbrews and ales. For those who prefer wine, several red and white selections are available by the glass or bottle. There are meal specials on certain nights including Burger Night, Create Your Own Pasta Night and Crab Cake Night. There is live music every Thursday night. Friendly service and a cozy atmosphere create an inviting place to spend time catching up with family and friends.
The Brickhouse
Those living in the North Housatonic area of the Berkshires know that The Brickhouse Pub offers the best in meal selections made from locally grown food as well as a variety of unique house concocted beverages. Appetizers, burgers, hot dogs and pizza are on the menu, but the Brickhouse also has wraps, grinders and salads to choose from. Beer on tap and live music makes this a great stop.
